Star Plus launches new non-fiction property Junior MasterChef

MasterChef is all set to make a comeback this August. Only this time, the people donning the chef’s hat would come in small packages. Junior MasterChef will make its Indian debut on August 17, 2013 on Star Plus.

Judges and Chefs Vikas Khanna, Kunal Kapoor and Surjan Singh Jolly said during the launch yesterday, “We were slightly apprehensive whether children would be able to cook or not. I mean, sure, they will make an omlette, or tea, or maybe even pakodas. But it was only after the audition that we realised that they are in no way behind the original masterchefs!”

The show will be replacing ‘India’s Dancing Superstars’ which has just finished its current season on Star Plus. The previous seasons of MasterChef were aired during the week. But since the contestants this time are kids, the channel has decided to limit the shooting time and therefore will air it only on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 PM. The current season will run for 11 weeks.
